HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A HIGH SURF WARNING is in effect for the north and west-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai. The warning will last until noon on Saturday.The warning also includes the north-facing shores of Maui and the west-facing shores of Hawaii Island.Surf on the north-facing shores of Kauai could reach up to 30 -40 feet tall, and wave heights on Oahu’s north-facing shores could reach 25- 35 feet tall. Ocean water is expected to sweep across beaches, impacting coastal properties and infrastructure. Powerful longshore and rip currents will be present at most beaches.
Outside of large surf, weaker trade winds are expected in the forecast over the next several days. Breezy conditions will continue throughout Black Friday and Saturday, but the trade wind flow will weaken on Sunday. Light and variable winds are expected through the first half of next week.
Stable air will remain across the state, meaning minimal rainfall is expected into the weekend. Some low clouds and light showers are also possible, but rainfall will remain mostly over windward regions.
